Cool new social features with the Amazon Kindle

James Brooks over at ChurchDrop just posted some neat information about the new public sharing features available on the Kindle website.

For a while note, you’ve been able to make notes and highlights using your Kindle and have them appear on Amazon’s site, but there was no way to make them public.  Now you can make them public (on a book-by-book basis) and “follow” other people to see what kind of cool stuff they’ve been highlighting.

The one problem right now is that it’s kind of hard to find people to follow; you can see some “highly followed” users, but that’s about it.  However, I expect Amazon to continue to expand those features over time.
