What is one of the easiest ways to humanize your brand, create a personal connection, build trust, and foster transparency on your website? It may not be your first thought, but the answer is quite simple (and something you may already be doing): showcasing your staff!

Since your company website is often the first point of contact between your business and potential customers, it’s the perfect way to show the faces that keep your business moving forward and shape the first impression of your brand. And, with everything being digital, it’s an easy way to help shape a personal relationship with your potential customers.

After building countless About and Our Team pages, we will share how you can effectively showcase your staff on your company website.

Why You Should Highlight Your Team

Today’s consumers are interested in more than just purchasing products or services from a company. Many, particularly younger generations, want to connect with the businesses they support by seeing the people behind the brand, learning about their values, and understanding who they’ll interact with.

It’s no secret consumers prefer to engage with companies that share their personal values, such as community involvement and social responsibility. They seek businesses with user-friendly websites that feature approachable, friendly, and accessible people. Employee profiles can be crucial in achieving these goals and building trust with your audience.

Companies that include a “Meet the Team” page with photos, titles, and bios often rank among the most visited on their websites, indicating a genuine interest from potential customers.

What does this reveal? People want to know who you are. Whether they’re exploring job opportunities, considering starting a project with you or planning to purchase your products, people are curious about the origins of their purchases and investments. Make it easy for them to get to know you.

What to Include in Team Bios

When writing bios (whether you’ve hired a writer to work on this or ask the team to write their own), focus on the individual’s role, experience, and unique contributions to the company.

This not only highlights their professional background but also showcases their personal interests, creating a well-rounded profile. When writing about their skills and achievements, make sure they are relevant to the company’s mission. Lastly, it’s also nice to include hobbies or personal interests to create a relatable image.

Don’t have to go overboard with information; while it’s nice to share a lot about yourself, a paragraph or two is often enough to convey essential information.

Other Elements to Include Besides Bios

Here are other pieces to include on your team page to build an even deeper connection with your users:

Images

Professional headshots are a must-have element on your website because you want your users to clearly see who your team is. Sure, you can snap a “good enough” headshot on your iPhone, but hiring a professional photographer will give your webpage a cohesive look and feel.

Plus, the photographer will be able to capture some candid/lifestyle images that you can use across your website, social media, emails, and more.

Videos

Videos are an engaging way to showcase your staff and bring their stories to life. Consider creating short video interviews where team members discuss their roles, share insights about their work, and express what they love about being part of the company. This dynamic format allows visitors to see and hear from your team, fostering a deeper connection.

Team Culture

Do you host team outings, such as happy hours or volunteer days? Or do you bring in speakers or attend annual conferences? Anything you do that promotes a healthy team culture or your company core values will speak volumes to users.

Team Achievements and Milestones

Showcasing your team’s achievements and milestones can highlight their expertise and dedication. Whether it’s completing a significant project, receiving industry awards, or celebrating work anniversaries, sharing these successes emphasizes your team’s value.

Interactive Elements

An interactive team page can make exploring your staff’s profiles more engaging. Consider incorporating elements like clickable photos that lead to detailed bios or interactive timelines that showcase your team’s growth and development over time.

Examples of Great About or Our Team Pages

We’re going to be a little biased here and highlight some of our favorite About or Our Team web pages we’ve had the pleasure of building:

  • Hartman Simons: There’s a lot of personality coming through this site’s attorney page. The hover effect shows a fun, personalized image of each attorney’s hobbies.
  • Profit Resources, Inc.: This is a classic example of a team page, which includes professional headshots and individual bio pages.
  • Bonner Buchanan: We love how this page highlights the two main builders of this firm, as well as the professional headshots. It’s simple, yet effective.
  • Goshen Valley: The Board of Leadership page is divided into two sections so users don’t feel overwhelmed by all the headshots.
  • GreenMellen: Again, we said we would be biased here. Check out our About and Our Team pages.

Showcasing your staff on your website will speak volumes to your customers and your team. They will feel proud to work for a company that is excited to share their story and, in return, do whatever they can to support your company’s missions. It’s a win-win for everyone involved!
