WordPress 3.7 has been released

wordpress-logoWhile it was delayed a bit from when it was first expected to be released, WordPress 3.7 (codenamed “Basie”) is now available and ready for you to install.  You can download a copy of it here, or read more about it on the official WordPress blog.

As we mentioned earlier this month, WordPress 3.7 comes with a handful of new features:

  • Automatic minor updates so that small updates (such as 3.7.1 in the future) will be applied to your site automatically, keeping you more secure
  • Improved language support for non-English sites.
  • Improved password strength detection so that WordPress can do a better job of helping you determine the strength of your chosen password.
  • Better internal search results, which has been needed for a long time.
  • New toys for developers, so that new themes and plugins can take things even further.

As with most major releases, this one is full of features but doesn’t have any critical security fixes in it (as long as you’re already on 3.6.1).  Take your time, back up your site, then give it a shot.

If you’re on one of our improvement plans, we’ll have you updated in the next day or so, after we’ve done some testing and backed up your site.
