GreenMellen Core Value: We Do The Right Thing

Core-Value-Right-Thing

There are a lot of negative perceptions around the digital marketing industry, and we have likely heard them all firsthand from potential clients and leads.

“It takes days, if not weeks, to hear back from my digital agency.”

“We want to move to another web agency, but our old agency owns our hosting.”

“Our agency is doing monthly SEO for us, but I’m not sure what they’re doing.”

If you’ve experienced one of these scenarios, I am truly sorry. A relationship with your marketing partner should be established on trust and a mutual commitment to grow together.

At GreenMellen, one of our core values is “We do the right thing.” Sounds broad, right? Let me narrow this in a bit more. “We do the right thing, even if it’s to the detriment of ourselves.”

That hits home a bit more. How do we practice this?

No long term contracts

We believe that there is no sense in continuing a relationship with a client (or anyone for that matter) if both parties aren’t finding value. That is why every one of our agreements with our clients is month-to-month.

If you decide that GreenMellen isn’t the best partner for you, you are not committed for any length of time. Plus, this means we have to work hard to keep you happy. Fortunately, 91% of our clients who were with us five years ago are still with us today.

Point you in the right direction

Many of our clients come to us with ideas and urgent needs, and we usually have a roadmap to get those needs fulfilled. But we always aim to keep the cart behind the horse and will point you in the right direction for the best outcome.

That may mean we need to take a step back and clean up your website before starting social media marketing, or we need to build a proper email list before we start sending out that new email campaign.

There are certainly times when we are not aligned with a potential client. Not every first date continues to a second. In these instances, we always try to point you in the right direction as well.

We have many partner agencies that work with larger, smaller, and different clients from us. In the case that your needs don’t fit our model, you may find a great fit with one of our trusted connections.

You set the pace

Once you have onboarded to GreenMellen client status, you hold the reins. Our service model gives you options to set the speed that works best for you.

One example is through our Marketing Wish Lists. We offer suggestions and ideas each quarter and it’s up to you which you want to pursue. That leaves you in control of your time and budget, which is a great place to be.

No website links in footer

Another example of keeping your best interests in mind is through pursuing small “wins” alongside large “wins”. In the world of search engine optimization (SEO), for example, you have to take all the wins you can get.

When agencies place a link to their website in the footer of your website, that is a small “loss” against your SEO, and a small “win” for the agency. As a result, we never place a link back to our website in your footer. It’s a small thing, but it’s the right thing to do.

You choose your vendors

We have worked in digital marketing for a long time now and we have many partnerships and connections within our industry.

Most clients look to us for suggestions on where to host their website or which printing company to use in our area. We are always happy to offer those suggestions, however you are not required to use our vendors.

If you have a printer you have a great relationship with, or a host you prefer to use (within reason), we will support your decision and work with your network of partners.

We don’t host websites

Related to choosing your own vendors, GreenMellen doesn’t host websites. We do all the heavy lifting and technical work to make sure your site is properly set up and running, but we want you to own the “space in the cloud” where your website lives (aka: hosting).

This means if you ever need to change web agencies for any reason, you have no barriers keeping you from doing so, other than the fact that you would miss us!

We are responsive

Last but certainly not least is the one attribute of our company we work so very hard to maintain; our responsiveness. So many agencies in our space have earned a bad name for their slow response times to emails and phone calls.

We hear it all the time, “it takes weeks to hear back from my agency.” or “We want to move to a new website partner but our current agency won’t respond to migrate hosting.” (Re: section above). These are scenarios we never want you to be in.

For that reason, you will never hear crickets from us. Our support team, on average, responds to emails within 23 minutes. In fact, this is so important, we made it another core value of ours.

We’ll do the right thing for you

I hope you find value in our approach to treating our clients with their best interests in mind. As an agency, we work very hard to shape our services in a way that gives our clients the freedom and choices they deserve.

In addition to always doing the right thing, our other core values are:

  • We are always improving.
  • We are responsive.
  • We share our expertise.
  • We think outside the box.
