Creating a “Tweetable” Experience

Social media is more than posting updates on facebook, taking photos on instagram, and tweeting to a crowd of followers; its about engaging people to INTERACT with your brand in both a digital and tangible conversation.

In order to master this goal you need to take your social media plan to the next level by creating experiences worth tweeting about. We’re all familiar with event driven hashtags and cause driven social media campaigns, but what if you could stage several smaller, yet rememberable experiences that people couldn’t help but share with their friends? It may require a little creativity, however once you realize the results of a truly tweetable experience, the ideas will begin to flow. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Hide notecards around a park / mall / etc with instructions to share a picture on twitter and mention your company for a prize or shout-out.
  • Organize an employee outing where the only form of communication to the outside word is through a social network.
  • Set up a public photo booth where the pictures are accessible via your Facebook page.

An exceptional real life example was demonstrated last year by Coke when they celebrated National Friendship Day with their “Friendship Machine”. The concept ended up being quite a success and resulted in a wave of measurable excitement on twitter and many blogs. It’s events like this that really create interaction with a brand.

This is just the tip of the iceburg. You’ll love creating a healthy buzz throughout the community and around your brand with each engaging experience you create.

Have fun!!
