Help! My WordPress Site Has Been Hacked!

It can happen to anyone. One minute you’re patting yourself on the back for all the hard work you’ve put into your website, and the next minute your site has been hacked and transformed into something unrecognizable. Website security needs to be a business’s top priority, but if you’ve found yourself too little too late on making your website hacker-free, below are the steps to take to fix your hacked WordPress website. WordPress 4.5 is Now Available! Check Out What’s New

WordPress 4.5 was released moments ago and you can download it from the WordPress.org download page right now. Below are just some of the awesome new features you’ll experience with the 4.5 update: Theme Logo Support A long-awaited feature of WordPress has been the capability to add theme logo from customizer, and WordPress 4.5 will allow users to add theme logo support to WordPress core. Even though some premium WordPress themes have allowed users to upload a custom logo using their own options panel, it’s now possible for users to do that from the theme customizer. Inline Text Editing The visual editor will see a lot of improvements with 4.5 to improve the writing experience. How Much Time Should Your Business Spend on Social Media?

It’s crazy to think that social media wasn’t a part of our lives 20 years ago. Now, life events “never really happened” if they weren’t tweeted, posted or shared, and companies are expanding their marketing departments to include a Social Media Specialist (or even a full social media department). Today, social media is the place where people go to vent, announce big news and stay in touch with one another. Even though it’s all digital, it’s a very human thing, and every industry needs to take advantage of this common-day “human integration platform.” Fact: Social media is for every business. If your social media strategy is non-existent because you claim, “my business wouldn’t do well on social media,” you’re holding yourself back. Sorry for the hard truth, but this excuse has been used far too many times. Take Charmin for example. They are DOMINATING social media (with almost 70K Twitter […]

Connect to Consumers Through Your Website Content

Website content is every business’s best friend or worst nightmare. Executed correctly, your business will rank high on search engines, encourage visitors to learn more about your business, and capture more business through your leads. If you choose to not fully plan out your content, your website will not be used to its full potential and be ignored by your hard-earned visitors. “Content is King” may be a broken-record statement from top SEO, Google and marketing professionals, but they wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true. Your content not only needs to be high priority, but it must be written in a way to drive visitors to feel confident about doing business with you. It’s not as tricky as it may seem, but below are some examples to help you connect to your consumers through your website content. Website Copy vs Content First, we would like to point out that there is a […]

Keep Your WordPress Website Hacker-Free Like a Pro

Your website serves as one of your biggest assets; it’s the modern-day window into your business and people’s first resource to get to know you. No one ever expects their website to be hacked, but if it does happen it feels like someone is tarnishing all the hard work you’ve put into not just your website, but your business, too. An absence of website security is often linked to a lack of understanding of how hacks can happen, which is why it’s so crucial to learn how to make your major asset safe. The scary truth is, there are more websites susceptible to hackers than not (in fact, over 70% are). Fortunately, you can take plenty of precautions to ensure your WordPress website remains hacker-free and visitor-friendly. Backup Your WordPress Website  This should go without saying, but scheduling a regular, full-fledged backup of your WordPress site is the most significant […]

Keep these digital tips in mind to ensure your digital marketing strategy is inline with both your goals and your customers’ needs. Mobile > Desktop Think about it, just over 15 years ago we were all oohing and ahhing over large, bulky desktop monitors that sat on their designated table and made loud screeching sounds to connect to the Internet. Now, mobile devices have allowed us to carry our personal diary, entertainment portal, wallet and gateway to real-time information all in one handheld piece of technology. More and more people (especially millennials) are relying on their smartphone as their main access to the internet, so […]

It’s Time to Spring Clean Your Website

Ahhh, spring is finally in the air! While we welcome the fresh flowers, friendly chirping of birds and lush greenery back into our lives, there is one tedious chore that comes with this season: spring cleaning. No, we’re not talking about ridding your home of all the dust and stuffy air that built up over the winter months; we’re talking about sprucing up your website (however, we recommend doing the “old-fashioned” spring cleaning, too). Much like our homes after a long, dreary winter, websites can become stale, boring and outdated. Don’t let your website turn away your visitors; it’s time to roll up those sleeves and freshen up your website. Below is your guide to your website spring cleaning list: 1. Take a fresh look at your website from your customers’ point of view. Your website’s homepage is the window into your business. Even if your business isn’t brick-and-mortar, you […]

WordCamp Atlanta 2016 Recap

This weekend marked the 6th annual WordCamp Atlanta, and although it was my first WordCamp appearance I heard from many that this year’s conference was the best one yet. Over the course of 3 days, over 700 participants, ranging from seasoned developers to blogging newbies, came to the Loudermilk Center eager to learn what’s new with WordPress and how to use it effectively for their websites. With 49 different speakers, including our very own Mickey Mellen, 48 presentations and 3 workshops, there was something for everyone to take away from WordCamp 2016. On Friday, there were three workshops held prior to the all-day Saturday and Sunday lectures. Mickey hosted the WordPress Design for Beginners seminar with our good friend Kathy Drewien. In the morning, he covered topics such as CSS, hex codes vs RGB vs CMYK and DPI/PPI, while walking through a live theme customization on a demo WordPress site. […]
