4 Reasons Why You Should Start a Podcast

It seems like nowadays everyone has a short or long selection of podcasts they listen to on a regular basis, and their lists usually have a combination of business and lifestyle series. Podcasts are growing in popularity because of their easy-to-access format and ability to work into people’s on-the-go lifestyles. Why not take part in this growing trend and start a podcast of your own?

No matter what industry you’re in, you can create podcast content that will keep your audience intrigued. Need more convincing? Discover the top four reasons why you should create a podcast your business.

It’s Very Easy and Inexpensive

The first excuse why you maybe wouldn’t want to do a podcast is because you don’t have time to learn how to do it. Producing a podcast may sound complicated, but with the right tools, it’s actually effortless to create one. Besides the small investment in a nice microphone (we recommend Blue’s Yeti, but you can find high-quality ones on any budget), royalty-free music for your intro, and podcasting editing tools (we like Anchor, which has a free version), the process is painless.

Do some research into the tools and steps needs to launch a podcast, and you’ll see for yourself that producing one doesn’t have to be daunting.

You Can Connect with Other Professionals

In case you weren’t aware, GreenMellen has two podcasts currently. DigitalCast is Mickey’s podcast that talks about the latest trends in digital marketing, and A Brighter Web is where we discuss marketing news, products and ideas with special guests. These guests vary in their roles and industries, but they want to be on our show to not only share their knowledge, but promote their business too.

Our team has also been guests of other marketing podcasts like Marketing Made Great and Agency Trailblazer, and t’s an excellent way for us to get exposure and position ourselves as marketing experts. If you choose to have guests on your podcast, not only will this interview drive the content of the episodes, but they’re willing to come on with these benefits in mind. It’s a win-win!

It’s a Great Way to Market Your Business (Over Time)

Like we stated in the last point, podcasts are a great way to increase your exposure with your audience. However, episode one should not be focused on your business’s services or products; you need to build trust with your listeners and deliver value before saying “work with us.” You can always mention your business at the beginning or after the show, but don’t make the whole episode about your limited-time offer.

You have your listeners’ undivided attention; don’t deter them with a sales pitch and no value.

You’ll Better Connect Your Audience to Your Brand Personality

Showcasing your brand’s personality is critical in building long-lasting relationships with your audience, and a podcast is a great way to connect them with your brand. Whether you want to establish yourself as the industry expert or create a library full of fun topics for your audience to binge, a podcast will give your brand the voice for your listeners to connect and trust.

This new marketing medium will bring a plethora of benefits to your business, and it’s forecasted to become much more relevant in the coming years. Get on this trend early and consider developing a podcast for your business!
